We held our inaugural 10km race in May 2026 and what a race it was!
As a school, we are incredibly proud. What we witnessed today was far more than just a race, it was our whole community coming together in the most wonderful way.
We saw our pupils conduct themselves superbly: cheering on runners, handing out medals, helping in the hall, and representing our school with such kindness and enthusiasm. We saw parents, families, and friends giving up their time to marshal, run, support, and help make the event happen. Staff stepping in wherever needed, and so much hard work happening behind the scenes from our Race Organiser, Kevin Robinson and Mrs Beetham to bring the whole event together.
Today was a reminder of what community is all about, people coming together to support one another, celebrate achievement, and create something special.
We are beyond proud and incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in making the event such a success. Hopefully, the Bridekirk Dovenby 10K will become a much- loved, yearly tradition, and perhaps some of the pupils who helped today will one day return to run the 10K themselves as adults. Full results can be found here.
Thank you all for making this event so memorable.
Local Derwent Athletics Club runner Stefanos Stephanou was the first man home in a time of 35:01 setting a fast PB for the course and throwing the gauntlet down for next year. Lou Osborn of Keswick AC was our first lady home in 42:51. The course is undulating with 150m of ascent so certainly a route not to be under estimated!
A big thank you to our sponsors Kong Running for the prizes, M-SPORT for the car parking. Thank you to Timing Up North for accurately timing the event and Jake Bell Photography for capturing photographs of our runners. Images can be purchased from Jake's website here.
๐The race starts outside school, heads up to Bridekirk and takes a sharp right hand turn to make a loop around the houses and around a cup-de-sac!
๐Head passed St Bridget’s Church along a quiet country lane before popping out on the road to Tallentire.
โ๏ธRun along the one way system through this lovely village and say hi to the supporters in the village ๐
๐At the top of Tallentire, turn right up Tallentire Hill to the wind turbine and the water station ๐ง
๐Turn right and enjoy the views back into Bridekirk village and right again to retrace your steps back to school.
๐Run into the school playground to the finish line. You have done it ๐
