Primary 2 have been exploring the theme of gifts during their RE lessons over the past few weeks. We've discussed how it feels to give and to receive a gift. We've also talked about the gifts that were given to baby Jesus in the story of The First Christmas. The children explored why Christians might consider Jesus to be a special gift from God, and the greatest gift of all.
We then moved on to talk about whether gifts have to be something we've bought, and the children said we can give gifts that we've made. We made kindness cards the other week to give out to people and we discussed how things such as kindness, helpfulness and listening can also be very important gifts.
On Friday afternoon the children mastered a special paper folding technique to make contemporary Christmas trees from catalogues or magazines. Mrs Marrs and I were amazed at how quickly they picked up the folding, and so many of them didn't ask for any help at all. Perseverance personified in Primary 2!
We were so proud.
The children couldn't wait to take their trees home and give these as gifts to their families. They all looked stunning. Merry Christmas everyone.
I am pleased to announce that Molly has won the star baker award in the PBP Lockdown Cookbook competition. Her cheese pie recipe was amazing and will feature as the star recipe in the ebook which PBP are busy pulling together.
In the meantime, she will get her certificate, £10 Amazon voucher and a £100 voucher for the school.
WELL DONE MOLLY B!
