  • Harvest Appeal for The Food Bank

Tue 17 Oct 2023 Mrs Fish

Today our produce was collected as part of the foodbank's harvest appeal. The new School Council had their picture taken with Stuart and were very proud of our donation. Thank you to everyone who supported Cockermouth foodbank this Harvest-time.

  • Speakers Competition

Fri 06 Oct 2023 Mrs Fish

Lauren and Joe represented Bridekirk Dovenby CE School at the Rotary Young Speakers competition last night.

Despite being a little nervous, both Joe and Lauren spoke clearly and kept the audience engaged using humour, intrigue and great imagination throughout.

Lauren spoke about her 'Dream Job' as a mechatronics engineer  (someone who works on designing and manufacturing products that combine mechanical functions with advanced electronics, software, sensors and control systems).

While Joe entertained us with his plans to create a new global theme park in Cockermouth providing free entry for all children!

Lauren and Joe both learnt a great deal about speaking in front of an audience as well as from the other speakers who took part in the competition. A huge well done to them both!

  • Science in Yr4

Mon 02 Oct 2023 Mrs Fish

Today, Sarah, from Derwent Dental Care, came to talk to the children about how to look after their teeth. The children were all taught how to clean their teeth properly and were provided with toothpaste, brushes and a 2 minute timer.
As well as keeping our teeth clean, the children also learnt the importance of food choice - especially when choosing snacks! We realised that some healthy drinks are not always as healthy for our teeth as we might think 🤔…

The pictures below show some of the learning that took place.
