Year 5 took part in a brilliant Harry Potter themed morning of science at Cockermouth School on Tuesday. It was a great event and the children got stuck into a range of magical experiments and investigations.
Our Year 2 residential to Hawse End was another success. The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to develop independence and outdoor learning opportunities. On Wednesday we kayaked to St Herbert's Island to compete team building exercises and found treasure and had a fabulous evening walk around Derwent Water. On Thursday we went to Caldbeck to climb and abseil, developing our belaying skills as we kept each other safe.
Well done to all involved!
The end of the Spring term was busy with Easter themed activities. Following the service in church and a lovely walk back up to school, the awards were given for the best decorated cup cake.
It was very difficult to decide the winners of the competition for each class as the cakes were so well decorated. There were chicks, lambs and many other Spring and Easter designs.
Each class held an egg dumping competition and the winners all battled it out for the ‘strongest’ egg in school. The adults in school also joined in with Mrs Metcalf winning the staff award.
There were additional Easter activities taking place in the classrooms and we were all looking forward to our Easter break.
