Year 1 and 2 enjoyed some rugby coaching sessions. We learned about passing backwards, using space and using the tags to stop play. The children ended these sessions with rugby games.

Year 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 took part in a touch rugby tournament at CRUFC. The two teams were upper ks2 and lower ks2 which meant that many of the children were needed to ‘play up’ a year group.
The children made us incredibly proud by winning both tournaments (against local schools) but what made us most proud was the children’s level of sportsmanship which was noticed by many. Those off the pitch we’re giving advice and cheering on each other. In the changing rooms, between matches, the children discussed improvements for the next game and praised each other’s efforts.
A HUGE well done to all!
This spring our KS2 children have taken part in two football competitions at Cockermouth School. The children enjoyed several games per team and both our yr3/4 team & yr5/6 team came second. A fantastic afternoon getting to know children in other local primary schools, teachers from Cockermouth School and exploring the facilities of one of our feeder schools.
Football
Our Year1 and 2 football team thoroughly enjoyed an inter-school competition, hosted by Wright Sports. It was a wonderful day and we enjoyed this oportunity.
Rugby
Tag rugby training took place during June and July for Year 4, 5 and 6 children. We took part in a local tournament at Cockermouth Rugby Club which consisted of a Year 3/4 team and Year 5/6 team. Both teams got through to the semifinals and had a fantastic afternoon. Thank you to Mr McDowell for training us so well!
