Learning Beyond the Classroom

Over the last year, we have prioritised the development of our outdoor environment so that it can be used by teachers to extend learning beyond the classroom. The photos below show the space that we have created.

For the academic year 2023-24, we intend to support teachers with ideas and ways of using the outdoor environment to enhance our curriculum further. All staff will be provided with training to support the development of an outdoor learning curriculum so that they are ready to learn and willing to try new learning approaches themselves. Staff will be working with Dave Harvey, who works with the IOL https://www.outdoor-learning.org/ to establish and deliver the 'Enabling Outdoor Learning' INSET programme.

Connecting with Nature - Spiritual Development

Paul Rose came to school to support children and staff with spiritual development.
P2 and P4 spent time in the sensory garden using their senses to connect with nature. The children and staff were challenged to take time to stop, use their senses and really notice all that is going on in our immediate environment.
Teachers are planning to make time to Connect, Reflect and Act in order to promote awe and wonder.
