At the beginning and end of the school day, the area outside the school gate is extremely congested and I am fearful that an accident may occur if we do not adopt safe parking/driving practices. Can I implore you to study the diagram below and follow these general safety procedures:-
When dropping off your child in the morning, please do not leave cars in a place which will prevent school buses pulling alongside and parking close to the gate.
When collecting your child at the end of the day, would you please come INSIDE the gate and wait on the yard, leaving the area outside the gate clear for those who need to walk to the buses
Please park cars on the school side only and in places where marked on the diagram.
I have been asked to request that parent cars and school buses no longer turn at the end of the lane and that, should the road surface deteriorate, school will be billed for tarmac replacement. A further suggestion is that a gate may be erected to stop the erosion of the road.
Naturally, I realise that this may cause considerable difficulties for parents. The local police may well call and do spot checks to support our ROAD SAFETY COMMITTEE in adopting safe practices. I would not like anyone to receive a fine. THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN IS PARAMOUNT.
Could you please come onto the yard to collect your child and keep younger children close.
