Primary Five

Life as a Journey - Is every person's journey the same?

Janet and Mike came into school to talk to us about pilgrimage. They had undertaken St Cuthbert’s Way which is a pilgrimage from Melrose Abbey in Scotland to Lindisfarne and Holy Island on the Northumberland coast.

They talked about what they saw on route and the significance of different places.

The children asked questions and considered the difference between a journey and a pilgrimage.

The Life Journey of Paul (Saul)

Stuart, from the Food Bank, came to talk to P5 about the life of Paul and how his Life Journey saw him change from Saul, who persecuted Christians, to becoming Paul, a missionary who travelled to tell people about Jesus. Jesus appeared to Saul as a bright light and a voice asked him, “Why do you persecute me?”.

Paul spent the rest of his life as a Christian spreading God’s word. He wrote letters to the people he met and some of these letters are within our Bible.

Stuart challenged us all to make changes… to stand up and speak out! The changes may not be completely life changing, but they will make a difference to others and to our lives.

The Life Exhibition - Cockermouth

In October, the children in P5 visited Christ Church Cockermouth to experience the Life Exhibition.

Everyone visited three different zones as well as a final video zone. The Red Zone - LIFE LINE - the children discovered the historical Jesus, and how the life of Jesus was predicted hundreds of years earlier by Jewish prophets.

The Green Zone - LIFE TALKS - the children explored how the unique teachings of Jesus are still relevant to them today.

The Blue Zone - LIFE WORKS - realising how Jesus’ miracles helped people.

Video Zone -LIFE GIVER - where the children explored the impact

of his life, death and resurrection.

Finally, the children answered a multiple choice quiz online and were provided with refreshments.

We would like to thank all the volunteers at Christ Church for providing us with an interactive thought provoking RE lesson!
