Day Aboard the Gift of the Gael
All the children in Key Sage 2 are spending a day at Derwentwater to explore like the Vikings did.
Sailing aboard the ‘Gift of the Gael’ on the beautiful Derwentwater and working as a team to row back to shore. It was hard work!
Another activity was learning about Viking fighting and creating a shield. We had some vicious looking Vikings ready to fight with knowledge about how the shields were used and the weapons they used.
Making oat biscuits was the final activity and cooking them on a fire. Learning about the food of the vikings and grinding oats showed us just how difficult the process was.
A great day out and the weather was fantastic.
