Farm to Fork Trip
Yesterday our Year 1 and Year 2 children spent time consolidating our Geography learning about food production. We visited 3 farms which enabled us to have a practical experience of seeing where our food comes from. You will see in the photographs that we first visited a local dairy farm to see cows being milked and learned about dairy herds. Then we moved on to a sheep farm where we learned about meat farming, had some time enjoying feeding newborn lambs and looked closely at farm vehicles. Our final destination was another dairy farm in Torpenhow. Here they have a small herd of organically produced cows which they milk for cheese and ice-cream. At this farm we were able to see food production within a small factory, with lots of samples tasted along the way.
