Y1 and Y2 have been really looking forward to meeting Sheila Gewolb, who was coming in to teach them more about Judaism. They were so excited to meet her today and extremely keen to ask her lots of questions. Sheila was very impressed with their knowledge of the religion and the range of questions that they posed. The children were very lucky to learn even more from Sheila, who brought in an array of artefacts and resources to show them.
Sheila set up a table ready for Shabbat, lit the candles and said the special Shabbat prayer. She also showed the children some items of clothing, which some children enjoyed modelling for us! Other things we enjoyed looking at were the special plates for the seder meal, the mezuzah and examples of Hebrew writing which is read from right to left.
Sheila has left some challah bread for the children to try tomorrow and they're all excited to sample it. What a fun afternoon we had and we're already looking forward to Sheila's next visit later on in the school year.
