We would like to thank Cockermouth School and The Primary Business Partnership for inviting the 'Year Five' children to take part in this special day.
The children were shown around the various arts departments within the school and took part in a variety of workshops; Art & Design, Music and Drama... The pictures below are some snapshots of their engagement.
Following a packed lunch in the canteen, the children went to the Eco-Centre for a careers afternoon. Yr5 were exposed to a range of different professions so that as they progress through school they are gradually made aware of the opportunities that might be available for them both in the local area and further afield.
The next 'Year Five Day' will be science based! We can't wait...
Well done Freddie!
Last month, pupils in P5 entered a young writer’s competition organised by Keswick Theatre - Words by the Water. The task was to write a short story (300 words) with the title: On Your Doorstep.
All the pieces of writing were worthy of winning a prize but Freddie’s writing was shortlisted to be a finalist. This meant, that last Saturday, we were invited to Keswick Theatre and Freddie’s story was read out by the president of the festival because it was judged to be the very best piece of writing by her. It was great to hear all the features that she considered made his writing a winning piece. The prizes were handed out by Tom Palmer the writer of many popular books.
