NSPCC Number Day brings together learning and fundraising, giving the children the chance to enjoy mathematics while helping to support NSPCC services. The children (and adults) ‘Dressed up for Digits’.
In assembly, the work of the NSPCC was explained to the children. they also learned the names of some famous mathematicians and laughed at some maths jokes.
Back in the classrooms, the children participated in a variety of number based activities. For example: dice games, TT Rockstars Times Table competitions, design a maths t - shirt, Prodigy Maths and making numerical games.
Children in year 5 were very lucky to be invited to watch a performance of The Wizard of Oz starring a group of pupils from Cockermouth School.
The production was amazing from start to finish and the children all agreed it was a show-stopper. The music was played by the school orchestra, the costumes were so bright and perfect, the singing was mesmerising but, best of all, was the acting and dancing. All the children were sat on the edge of their seats and they especially enjoyed spotting the characters that they recognised from attending Bridekirk Dovenby School. Merryn played the parts of Hunk and Scarecrow, Willow and Lucy played parts of a Queen and Molly was an Oz Woman and a tree!
Thank you for an amazing and memorable morning.
