  • Star Warts

Wed 14 Dec 2022 Fiona Taylor

Well done to every single member of the cast in this year’s Christmas show - Star Warts. You all worked extremely hard to put on an amazing show in the Carnegie Theatre in Workington. The audience of over 300 people were laughing continuously at the jokes in the show and the children delivered their lines so clearly and confidently; it was easy to forget that they were all aged between 8 and 11 years old.

The main characters were played by pupils in year 6 and the audience recognised plenty of Star Wars characters - Princess Leia (Nebula), Chewbacca, C-3PO (Humanoid Robot Character), Stormtroopers and even Dr Who and Captain Spocky.

  • Bake Off 2022

Mon 12 Dec 2022 Mrs Harrington

James from Great Britiish Bake Off 2022 and Sally Cooper (Yummy Pudding) came to bake with us today which coincided perfectly with our Bethlehem Bake Off Nativity theme. The children had an amazing afternoon - a huge thank you to those involved!

  • It’s the Bethlehem Bake Off

Mon 12 Dec 2022 Mrs Smith

A fantastic day was had by everyone at the nativity performance of ‘Bethlehem Bake Off’ at St Bridget’s Church, Bridekirk.  This funny spin on the traditional story of the birth of Jesus was so much fun to perform and thoroughly enjoyed by our audiences.

We were so proud of all the children in Reception, Years 1,2 and 3 who were amazing! They all sang beautifully, spoke clearly and even delivered some fantastic one-liners which gave everyone a chuckle.

It was tricky to get a picture as we were all so excited, but here goes 😃

Sat 03 Dec 2022 Mrs Fish

Thank you to everyone who helped raise money by supporting our School Christmas Fayre; we had such a good turn out. A real great start to our ‘Christmas Festivities’ that will commence this week with our Nativity at St Bridget’s Church.

  • A Starry Night puppet show

Wed 30 Nov 2022 Mrs Herbert

We all enjoyed the puppet show about the birth of Jesus.

  • Making Ferris Wheels

Thu 24 Nov 2022 Mrs Harrington

After two weeks of planning and designing our Ferris Wheels, today was construction day! This afternoon Yr 1 and 2 had a fabulous time building their designs out of straws, card, pots, egg trays, dowling and more. We now know all about axles and axle holders and understand how to build a moving structure.
Thank you for all the adult support - the end result is tremendous!

  • Wordsworth Grasmere School Workshops

Sun 20 Nov 2022 Fiona Taylor

Over the last two weeks, each class has been visited by the outreach team from Wordsworth Grasmere. They have delivered a workshop for each class - further enriching the children's knowledge of William Wordsworth.

Last year, all the children, from reception up to year 6, visited Dove Cottage and spent the day in the education centre learning about the life of William and his family and some of the works of William Wordsworth.

It was amazing to hear how much they remembered about their visit last year when the staff from Grasmere questioned them at the start of the school-based activities. They discussed some of the observations the children remembered in more detail and then the children had an opportunity to write with quill and ink. No emails in those days and letters would take days to arrive. How things have changed!

  • X Country Super Stars

    Thu 17 Nov 2022 K Harrington

Well done to our X country children who ran through mud and rain to complete the course at Cockermouth School. We entered a team of 12 Year 5 and 6 children along with ALL our Year 3 and 4 children. Shoes lost, muddy clothes and wet through but it didn’t deter our dedicated children.

  • Georgie (year 3) won the competition to design the badge for the local cricket team!
