We all enjoyed a day each on the mobile climbing wall during activity week. Here are some of the pupils in P5 attempting to scale the wall and make it to the top!
Our music lesson delivered by Mrs. Wright from CCC Music Service haven't been stopped this term as we held them outside under our shelter. Here you can see us singing in our socially distanced group!
All the pupils in Year 6 recently passed their Cycle wise test after spending three days training with Robin and Adrian. They all enjoyed the sessions and were pleased to be awarded the certificates and badges.
Take care everyone when you are out on your bikes and remember the rules that you have been taught.
On Wednesday, it was P4's turn to live a day as a Viking! We learnt so much about Viking lives and even had a go at sailing!
All the children in Key Sage 2 are spending a day at Derwentwater to explore like the Vikings did.
Sailing aboard the ‘Gift of the Gael’ on the beautiful Derwentwater and working as a team to row back to shore. It was hard work!
Another activity was learning about Viking fighting and creating a shield. We had some vicious looking Vikings ready to fight with knowledge about how the shields were used and the weapons they used.
Making oat biscuits was the final activity and cooking them on a fire. Learning about the food of the vikings and grinding oats showed us just how difficult the process was.
A great day out and the weather was fantastic.
Last half term, Primary 2 really enjoyed finding out about a little village in Brunei called Kampong Ayer. We compared it to the towns and villages where we live and there were so many differences. We were excited to learn that it's actually a water village, with all of the houses, shops and even the school built on stilts!
We found out more about life in Kampong Ayer - the houses, the schools, the people, the weather and climate and the wildlife. We discovered that if the villagers want to travel to the nearest city they have to take a water taxi. This looked like fun! We also watched video clips of some local children walking along the wooden bridges to visit their friends. Some of them even cycled and we were worried they might fall into the water, but they didn't because it's their way of life and they do it every day.
We found Kampong Ayer on a world map and made our own passports, then decided where we would all like to travel to in the future. What a wonderful surprise when one of our Y2 boys discovered that his Mum had actually been to the area years ago! She had taken some fantastic photos whilst she was on a boat trip and he brought them in to show us. We were all fascinated and it was so interesting to see the houses on stilts.
What an enjoyable Geography topic this was!
It was amazing to see so many children in school who have already read over 1,000,000 words since September.
Our Year 1 and Year 2 children have recently taken part in a series of gymnastics lessons. Today we sent off a video to take part in a key steps competition. We look forward to hearing how we’ve got on.
We are so very proud of how our vegetable garden is progressing.
We are always proud of how well our children read and the amount of books that are read each and every day.
It’s a race towards the end of every half term to take the quizzes and find out who is receiving the certificates.
Well Done to the recipients of the certificates this term and all the children for being so enthusiastic to read.
